Hong Kong- Star has promoted Liza Newnham as Senior Vice President / General Manager of English Language Channels, Star. In this newly created position, Newnham will manage the business operations of Star Movies and Star World and will work to strengthen the channel brands. Based in Hong Kong, Newnham reports to Laureen Ong, Chief Operating Officer of Star who stated that the company is working “aggressively” to bolster the channels’ foothold in the English language entertainment landscape. Newnham joined Star in 2005 as Vice President, Star Ventures, managing the company’s joint venture interests in India, and was upped to Vice President, Ad Sales and Distribution, Star. She worked in business development at Australia’s Foxtel and Italy’s SKY Italia before joining Star.
