Sydney: Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, Australia’s version of the hit U.S. format which pits ten year-olds against grown-ups in the knowledge stakes, and Pirate Master, from Survivor creator Mark Burnett, are among the highlights of Network Ten’s second-half schedule, unveiled today. The line-up also includes America’s Next Top Model (which already screened in Oz on pay channel Fox8), the U.S. version of The Office, and Californication, the comedy/drama starring David Duchovny. Launching in September, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? will be hosted by Rove McManus and produced by his banner Roving Enterprises. In Pirate Master, Australian Cameron Daddo sets 16 aspiring pirates loose on the high seas in and around the Caribbean island of Dominica. The winner’s booty: US$1 million; the losers are cut adrift. Returning shows include the improvised comedy Thank God You’re Here, the fifth season of Australian Idol, and the second series of So You Think You Can Dance, a gruelling 12-week competition to become America’s number one dancer.
