Sydney- The third annual Digi SPAA forum staged by the Screen Producers Association of Australia is introducing a new award this year, with prizes including a trip to Rotterdam’s Cinemart international film market. The SPAARTAN award will recognize “innovative, self-starting filmmakers,” said SPAA Executive Director, Geoff Brown. Digi SPAA provides a forum for Australian and New Zealand filmmakers to showcase their work in a competitive environment. Eligible films are features between 70 and 110 minutes, digitally produced, at the advanced post-production stage no earlier than August 30, 2006, and independently funded. Digi SPAA finalists will be screened at this year’s SPAA Fringe conference on October 26-27 at Sydney’s Chauvel Cinema, judged by an industry panel. The winner, who will be announced at the SPAA Conference in November, will receive a A$15,000 cash prize and A$20,000 worth of post production plus a screening on the MOVIE EXTRA channel and the return airfare and registration at Cinemart.
