Animax Mobile, a dedicated mobile version of Sony Pictures Television International’s popular Japanese animé channel, began its global roll-out in Australia on June 12 and will launch in Canada in July. A two-hour loop of four full-length animé series, Blood+, Last Exile, ROD the TV, and The Count of Monte Cristo is on offer, plus short-form, cult animation series such as Petey and Jadey, and regional product including TechnoMax and ImagineNation from Animax Asia. Targeting the 14-34 demographic, Animax Mobile is airing on 3 mobile in Australia and in Canada will be available on Bell Mobility to users of 3G handsets with mobile video streaming capability. An SPTI spokesman says its mobile team is negotiating carriage with telco operators in various countries in Asia; currently the AXN mobile experience is available in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and India.
