Hangzhou– Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), has helped Les’ Copaque Production Sdn Bhd, an MSC Malaysia Status Company in development, production and management of animation-related Intellectual Property, clinch a US$7 million deal with China’s Zhongnan Group Animation Video Co. Ltd. to co-produce a 90-min 3D animation feature titled 36 Strategem – Essential Art of War. Initiated at MIPTV, the Memorandum of Agreement has been signed concurrently with the 3rd China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF) held in Hangzhou, China. Zhongnan Group owns China’s first original creative 3D animation teleplay serial Magic Wonderland and properties including Magic Eye, The Wonder Boy and Galaxy Racers. Besides animation content creation, it is engaged in TV programme distribution, books and video distribution, merchandizing and game development. Zhongnan’s Chairman, Jianrong Wu, expects further collaborations with other Malaysian companies to arise with the facilitation of MDeC, while Les’ Copaque’s Managing Director, Haji Burhanuddin Md Radzi sees the agreement as a springboard to penetrate the Chinese market.
